The Trust has also been involved in comparatively small but equally important projects. One of these was the restoration of some Victorian railings in Nelson Street  in the Cliff Town area of Southend. Nelson Street was the first purpose-built shopping street in the town and Cliff Town, a development of high-quality houses, was Southend’s first housing estate. These and other railings at the front of residential properties throughout the Cliff Town area were carefully restored by the Trust, under the auspices of Dr. Leslie Jolley, one of its founder members.
